Perkinsmania is running wild!
Well, OK, NFLbets shouldn’t go that far – but the Los Angeles Rams’ two-year practice-squad player turned in a nice performance against his team’s roommates, the Chargers, in week 1 of the NFL preseason. Perkins played the entire game at QB for the Rams, going 10-of-17 for 133 yards and 2 touchdowns – both to rookie WR Lance McCutcheon – against zero interceptions.
Matt Stafford, Cam Akers and Van Jefferson are in various states of repair, the obscure Perkins-to-McCutcheon connection may yet again romp – and they’ll definitely get lots of playing time again.
So NFLbets is bullish on the Rams, even with lines like these:
Houston Texans -3 at Los Angeles Rams, over/under 38½ points
Why? Because the Houston Texans are on the other side of the field. The Texans are among the very most likely candidates to go 0-17 this NFL season and, yes, NFLbets understands this isn’t an argument in and of itself: The ultimately winless 2008 Detroit Lions went undefeated in the preseason and all that.
And yeah, the Texans took care of business at home against the New Orleans Saints in preseason week 1, 17-13. But NFLbets simply cannot bring ourselves to bet on Houston versus the Rams, regardless of time of year. L.A. put together two passing TDs plus two rushing TDs, and this week take on the second-string of a reconstituted team that was second-worst in points allowed and bottom-three in most rushing defense statistics.
NFLbets will take the Rams practice squad over the Texans second-stringers any week in 2022 – even this week. Take the Los Angeles Rams +3 vs Houston, and take the under on an O/U of 38½ points.
Los Angeles Rams are last in the NFC West and are likely to miss the playoffs. Rams lost 26-10 to the Kansas City Chiefs in their last game. Seattle Seahawks lost 40-34 to Las Vegas Raiders in overtime. Seattle is still in contention for the postseason. Los Angeles is one season removed from winning the Super Bowl. The Rams have a lot of injuries.
The Buccaneers and Saints are playing on Monday Night Football. The winner of the NFC South will have a losing record at the end of this season. Both teams are below .500. Saints lead the all-time series 39-23. Buccaneers won the game earlier this year 20-10. Andy Dalton will start for the Bucs instead of Jameis Winston. The Bucs are 27th in the NFL in scoring offense and 21st in defense. DraftKings Sportsbook has the Buccaneers as four-point home favorites. They have failed to cover in eight of their last nine games. Bucs have also lost eight out of last 9 games coming off of an overtime game.
The New Orleans Saints are visiting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday Night Football in 2022. The game will be broadcast on ESPN at 8:15 p.m. ET. The Saints were shutout for the first time in two decades by San Francisco last week.
Trevor Penning made his NFL debut against the 49ers. He played six snaps and didn't play well. Penner got a poor PFF grade of 28.0. His pass-blocking grade was 8.5 and his run-block grade 60.9. The Saints are 4-8 and they should be thinking about the playoffs. The penalty Pennington received negated a pass interference play.
The New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers will play on Monday Night Football this week. Tampa is atop the NFC South standings, but they are below .500.
There is nothing better than Thanksgiving than the food spread. The leftovers are delicious but they start to smell. It's better to throw them out before the smell hits. The New Orleans Saints are Expired Leftovers.
The Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams meet in week 13 NFL action at SoFi Stadium. The Seattle have won 5 of their last 8 games, while the Los Los Rams have lost 5 straight games. Randy Chambers's free pick is Seattle vs Los LA Rams -8. The Seahawks are 17-4 ATS in their recent 21 games in Week 13. Rams are 1-6 AATS in last 7 home games and 3-9-1 AET in the last 13 games overall. Seahawks have a better record on the road. They are 2-8 ATA in Los Laredo and 1 -6 against the spread in previous 7 meetings.
The Kansas City Chiefs extended their winning streak to five games with a 26-10 victory over the Los Angeles Rams. The victory moves Kansas Chiefs to 9-2, currently the best record in the AFC.
The San Francisco 49ers defense stopped New Orleans Saints from scoring. The 49er's defense forced two fumbles from Alvin Kamara. It was the first time the 49erns had allowed a point since beating Washington 9-0 on October 20, 2019. Jimmy Garoppolo threw for 222 yards and a touchdown. Andy Dalton threw 204 yards, but the Saints were held to just 63 on the ground. Wil Lutz missed a 48-yard field goal attempt. The Saints' last shutout came at the hands of the Niners in the 2001 finale. They are the fifth team since 1991 to go four straight games without allowing a second-half point.
