NFL betting – Point spreads, over/unders for week 8 – odds, lines, payouts
In week 7 of the 2022 NFL season, overs didn’t perform quite as well as NFLbets expected, hitting on half of the 14 games played – yet still the best showing by high-scoring offenses (plus a bunch of pick-sixes) this year thus far. In NFLbets’ over watch (Overwatch?) for ’22, overs are a weak 44-65-1.
To regress to the mean, overs would have to go 9-7 (in 16-game weeks) or 8-6 (in 14) for the remaining 11 weeks of the season. NFLbets isn’t suggesting this neat scheme will happen, but NFL bettors should trend to betting overs. And just has unders hit at a 10-6 clip in week 6, we’d guess that at some point between now and week 12, we’ll see a similar overperformance by overs one week. Could it be this one…?
Below run the point spreads and over/unders for the week 8 NFL games.
Baltimore Ravens -1½ at Tampa Bay Buccaneers, over/under 45 points
Denver Broncos +3 at London Jaguars, over/under 39
Arizona Cardinals +4 at Minnesota Vikings, over/under 49
Carolina Panthers +4½ at Atlanta Falcons, over/under 49
Chicago Bears +9½ at Dallas Cowboys, over/under 42½
Las Vegas Raiders -2 at New Orleans Saints, over/under 49
Miami Dolphins -3 at Detroit Lions, over/under 52
New England Patriots -1½ at New York Jets, over/under 40½
Pittsburgh Steelers +10½ at Philadelphia Eagles, over/under 43½
Tennessee Titans -1½ at Houston Texans, over/under 40½
New York Giants +3 at Seattle Seahawks, over/under 45
San Francisco 49ers -1½ at Los Angeles Rams, over/under 42
Washington Commanders +3 at Indianapolis Colts, over/under 39½
Green Bay Packers +11 at Buffalo Bills, over/under 47½
Cincinnati Bengals -3½ at Cleveland Browns, over/under 47
NFLbets’ hot(tish) takes:
Do you realize that week 7 was probably the last easy bet on or against the Atlanta Falcons that NFL bettors’ll see all season? Now that Atlanta’s ridiculous 6-0 ATS streak has been broken, they could very well be a coinflip the rest of the way. Take week 7, for example with Carolina getting 4½ points – no wait, don’t take it. Stay away from that one altogether…
O boy, the Jaguars in London! NFLbets can’t wait to break out those historical stats!
Lots of candidates for line movement this week: Patriots -1½ (after the embarrassment against Chicago?); Bengals -3 at Browns (after what Joe Burrow and Burrow-to-Chase have done the past two weeks?); Titans -1½ at Texans (just look at the numbers: Tennessee crushes this division) … plus, Giants +3 could well be down to Giants +1 with tons of New York money certain to flow in.
