“Pick Five” NFL Betting Contest, week 8 – Betting home teams and juggernauts
The weekly grouse about NFLbets’ ticket in the “Pick Five” NFL betting contest: We would have gone a perfect 5-0 had not the New England Patriots decided not to show up.
Ah, well. Regardless of the results in another imperfect week, we’re filled with renewed vigor for the competition, particularly when we’ve found so many good solid home teams to side with this week.
On the week 8 “Pick Five” NFL betting contest card, NFLbets has:
London Jaguars -2½ vs Denver Broncos. Yes, losing money on the *Jacksonville* Jaguars has been a common lament among NFL bettors over the past four weeks or so. But these here are the *London* Jaguars, a far more successful squad since 2013.
Dallas Cowboys -10 vs Chicago Bears. Perhaps some personal revenge motivation here after the embarrassment the Bears handed the Patriots on Monday night – but we’re also more rationally betting on Chicago’s short week, Dallas’s better run defense and just a superior Cowboys team.
Seattle Seahawks -3 vs New York Giants. We’re having so much fun betting on Pete Carroll, Geno Smith and the Seahawks, why stop for a home game against the overachieving 6-1 SU/ATS Giants?
Los Angeles Rams +1 vs San Francisco 49ers. Something of a risky pick, considering who the Rams have beaten (Atlanta, Arizona, Carolina) and to whom they’ve lost (Buffalo, San Francisco, Dallas). Sean McVey is an OK 5-2 SU/4-4 ATS as head coach when coming off a bye week, but the real key are the injuries to the 49ers defense. Even with Trent Williams back at LT and RB Christian McCaffrey newly aboard, thr 44-23 thumping given them by the Kansas City Chiefs last week indicates the Niners are nearly wholly dependent on their D, which is nowhere near back to full strength.
Cincinnati Bengals -3 at Cleveland Browns. Until the Bengals stop resembling a behemoth on offense, NFLbets’ll take them minus any points, home or away…
