NFL week 8 game scores, adjusted for point spreads

In week 8, a couple of vicious backdoor covers ruined a fairly easily winnable week. Though if you bet on the Jacksonville Jaguars and/or Los Angeles Rams (again, even), you only have yourselves to blame, really. But don’t take it so hard – plenty of season left for redemption!

Note: Scores in bold denote those games in which the SU winner did not cover ATS. • Baltimore Ravens 27 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20½

• New England Patriots 19½, New York Jets 17. Whose season has Belichick ‘n’ Brady Patriots haters enjoyed more: The Patriots’ as the heir apparent quickly erodes further weekly, or the Buccaneers’ and their all-pervading funk? The answer is, of course, yes.

• Denver Broncos 21 at London Jaguars 15. Thanks to this loss, the Jaguars have a chance this week in Las Vegas to become the first NFL team in 2022 to lose in five different timezones.

• Carolina Panthers 34 at Atlanta Falcons 33½
• Dallas Cowboys 39, Chicago Bears 29. The Panthers traded away perhaps the league’s best all-purpose player. The Cowboys have played some historically great defense. So naturally these two teams are involved in the highest-scoring games of the week…

• Washington Commanders 17 at Indianapolis Colts 13. NFLbets is freaking out a bit here. A number of sources for information on the NFL, including ESPN, Pro-Football-Reference and PFF are claiming that Washington is on a 3-0 SU/ATS run? This is a Russo-Chinese hacker thing, right?

• New Olreans Saints 24, Las Vegas Raiders -1½. Headline from Las Vegas Review-Journal of Tuesday, November 1: “Mark Davis says Josh McDaniels will be Raiders coach ‘for years to come’.” Uh huh. NFLbets’d advise seeking bets on McDaniels’s tenure of under 1½ right quick…

• Miami Dolphins 27½ at Detroit Lions 27. Since 2008, no team appearing on Hard Knocks: Training Camp has ever won a playoff game and odds are this will again fail to happen in the 2022 playoffs. Can we institute a “Hard Knocks Curse” already?

• Tennessee Titans 13½ at Houston Texans 10. All right, just one more win and the Titans can clinch the AFC South!

• Minnesota Vikings 30½ at Arizona Cardinals 26. Likewise the Vikings in the NFC North! All right, exaggerating for effect here, but if we could apply a mercy rule to the NFL playoffs. A half-dozen teams in the Titans’ and Vikes’ divisions would have early summer – like starting on Thanksgiving…

• Seattle Seahawks 24, New York Giants 13
• Philadelphia Eagles 24½, Pittsburgh Steelers 13. The ultimate hilarious outcome for the NFC this season would feature a championship game of Seahawks at the 16-1 Eagles, the latter of which is favored by 13½ and nevertheless draws 90% of the handle – only to go down 9-6. NFLbets will tell you right now that we’re covering the Seahawks plus points should they get to that game.

• San Francisco 49ers 31 at Los Angeles Rams 11½. The best thing about the bottoming-out of the 2022 Los Angeles Rams? The chance to say “I told you so” to those 37 or so individuals who actually bet on a Rams championship repeat.

• Green Bay Packers 17, Buffalo Bills 16½
• Kansas City Chiefs 31½, bye 0
• Cleveland Browns 32, Cincinnati Bengals 10. Can we now go back to acknowledging that, realistically, only two AFC teams have a decent shot at the Super Bowl? Thanks.
