Perkinsmania is running wild!
Well, OK, NFLbets shouldn’t go that far – but the Los Angeles Rams’ two-year practice-squad player turned in a nice performance against his team’s roommates, the Chargers, in week 1 of the NFL preseason. Perkins played the entire game at QB for the Rams, going 10-of-17 for 133 yards and 2 touchdowns – both to rookie WR Lance McCutcheon – against zero interceptions.
Matt Stafford, Cam Akers and Van Jefferson are in various states of repair, the obscure Perkins-to-McCutcheon connection may yet again romp – and they’ll definitely get lots of playing time again.
So NFLbets is bullish on the Rams, even with lines like these:
Houston Texans -3 at Los Angeles Rams, over/under 38½ points
Why? Because the Houston Texans are on the other side of the field. The Texans are among the very most likely candidates to go 0-17 this NFL season and, yes, NFLbets understands this isn’t an argument in and of itself: The ultimately winless 2008 Detroit Lions went undefeated in the preseason and all that.
And yeah, the Texans took care of business at home against the New Orleans Saints in preseason week 1, 17-13. But NFLbets simply cannot bring ourselves to bet on Houston versus the Rams, regardless of time of year. L.A. put together two passing TDs plus two rushing TDs, and this week take on the second-string of a reconstituted team that was second-worst in points allowed and bottom-three in most rushing defense statistics.
NFLbets will take the Rams practice squad over the Texans second-stringers any week in 2022 – even this week. Take the Los Angeles Rams +3 vs Houston, and take the under on an O/U of 38½ points.
