“Pick Five” NFL Betting Contest, week 5 – Leaning on some powerhouses
“Pick Five” NFL Betting Contest, week 5 – To bet the offbeat a bit
Another week, another 2-3 finish. So maybe we’ll back off the away underdogs for a bit this week; unfortunately outrageously high pointspreads seem to be dotting the slate of game lines this week, so we’re backing mostly big favorites this time – anything to get competitive in this thing…
On the week 5 “Pick Five” NFL betting contest card, NFLbets has:
Seattle Seahawks +5½ vs New Orleans Saints. Clearly, NFLbets still isn’t 100% rational, but between the scoreboard-spinning Seattle did last week combined with a lackluster Saints offense and no bye week chasing the London game. Even weirder, the “12th Man” will soon actually be considering playoff ticket purchases…
Buffalo Bills -14 vs Pittsburgh Steelers. Guy in his first career start against a defense that has yet to face a non-playoff contender? After six quarters of so-so ball (for them), this D could absolutely punish poor Kenny Pickett.
Philadelphia Eagles -5 at Arizona Cardinals. We’re not exactly sure why this line is so low a week after the Eagles emphatically demonstrated their deserve to top all power polls right now, unless maybe the oddsmakers don’t like the 3-1 ATS record that Philly’s run up. Or maybe it’s the Pacific Time Zone thing…? We ain’t buying either.
San Francisco 49ers -6½ vs Carolina Panthers. And maybe this an an East Time Zone line? The 49ers have had an odd start, going 2-0 SU/ATS against competitive teams in L.A. and Seattle, while dropping both SU/ATS against marginal teams the Bears and Broncos. Win or like, however, the truth is that the 49ers defense has yet to allow more than 19 points this season – and based on last week, Baker Mayfield probably can’t help this team get to 10, much less 20…
Kansas City Chiefs -7 vs Las Vegas Raiders. Spare all the stuff you may hear this week about “The Raiders playing the Chiefs tough.” Since 2018, the Raiders in any city are a pitiful 1-7 SU/3-5 ATS against Kansas City. And this is not a trend we except to regress.
