For the NFL bettor, Thanksgiving is a top-three day in any football season, right up there with Super Bowl Sunday and Championship Sunday – with a limited number of games to concentrate on and none running concurrently, it’s a fantastic time to turn your betting season lucrative.
On this Thanksgiving Day, the second of the NFL’s slate of three games has a line of
New York Giants -9½ at Dallas Cowboys, over/under 45½ points
NFLbets may be a bit early in calling the demise of the 2022 New York Giants, but we prefer to think of ourselves as getting ahead of the curve. The G-men have only recently stumbled a bit in going 1-2 SU/ATS – though the sole win was a mere 8-pointer over the Houston Texans, certainly the NFL’s worst team.
As with the Minnesota Vikings, the Giants have a whiff of smoke-and-mirrors about them and their 7-3 SU record. After all, their point differential is just +1 on the season, and about the only statistical category at which they’re truly impressive is tackles for loss, as the New York defense ranks no. 1. Otherwise, this is a seriously average team.
The question for the NFL bettor than becomes: Can the Cowboys put up enough points to cover a 9½-point spread? Dallas is no. 1 in points allowed and passing yardage allowed, the latter not necessarily too important against the Giants’ Daniel Jones-led offense. The Cowboys have twice laid 40-burgers on the opposition in the past four games and after week 1 have been good for 27.6 points per game, from which one can easily see how the oddsmakers derived the over/under line.
So NFLbets is just going to bet the football here. With the Cowboys on ascension and having won five of the past seven by 10 or more points, we’re riding the lone star wave. Take the Dallas Cowboys -10 vs the Giants and take the over on an O/U of 45½ points – and we know that’s a lot of points for these teams but, hey, it’s fun!
