The last week of the 2022 NFL preseason starts this Thursday with a matchup of two teams drawing shorter odds to win Super Bowl LVII than the defending champion Los Angeles Rams – both teams opened at 10/1. For betting purposes, we’re talking about
As with so many of these preseason games, the conversation may begin (and very frequently end) with the quarterbacks and “skill” players on offense: Specifically, will they play? For this game, the answer on Aaron Rodgers and his guys is an emphatic “no.” Against Kansas City, the Packers will play the starting offensive line but with Jordan Love at quarterback.
As for the Chiefs, head coach Andy Reid has reportedly not decided if Patrick Mahomes and/or Travis Kelce will go for the 3rd preseason tilt. Mahomes has been dominant in the true sense of the word: In just *three possessions* this preseason, he’s gone 18-of-26 for 222 yards and 3 touchdowns against zero interceptions. All other Kansas City QBS ( ) have totaled 31-of-51 for 224 yards against 1 TD and 1 pic – with this trio taking a combined seven sacks against Mahomes’s nil. The team has scored 18 points without Mahomes in the games, 21 with him in.
But will it even matter if Mahomes doesn’t play?
Throughout the Andy Reid Era in Kansas City, the Chiefs have not been noted for their defense in general and specifically the pass rush. Despite oddly leading the league in tackles for a loss in 2021, the KC D was statistically average at best in almost all areas and were decidedly vulnerable to the big play, finishing second-worst in average yards per pass play and sixth-worst in average per run.
Fortunately, Jordan Love & Co. don’t seem to have a big play in them right now. Playing behind the starting OL and getting the great majority of snaps with the offense, Love has gone 25-of-48 for just 290 yards in two preseason games. Against the New Orleans Saints in week 2, Love avoided throwing a pick – a big improvement over his 3-interception showing in preseason week 1 – but a 50% completion percentage at less than 5.0 yards per attempt? Heck, the normally low-key Chiefs defense just might keep the second-string Packers out of the endzone the entire game. Take the Kansas City Chiefs +3 vs Green Bay.
The Buccaneers and Saints are playing on Monday Night Football. The winner of the NFC South will have a losing record at the end of this season. Both teams are below .500. Saints lead the all-time series 39-23. Buccaneers won the game earlier this year 20-10. Andy Dalton will start for the Bucs instead of Jameis Winston. The Bucs are 27th in the NFL in scoring offense and 21st in defense. DraftKings Sportsbook has the Buccaneers as four-point home favorites. They have failed to cover in eight of their last nine games. Bucs have also lost eight out of last 9 games coming off of an overtime game.
Patrick Mahomes II and the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday at 4:25 PM ET on CBS.
Orlando Brown Jr. made a radio appearance on 610SportsKC. He did a spot-on impression of Patrick Mahomes. The Kansas City Chiefs are 9-2 and are looking to get some revenge against the Cincinnati Bengals.
The New Orleans Saints are visiting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday Night Football in 2022. The game will be broadcast on ESPN at 8:15 p.m. ET. The Saints were shutout for the first time in two decades by San Francisco last week.
Josh Allen has been on an amazing run versus New England. The Buffalo Bills will visit the New Patriots on Thursday Night Football. SportsLine Projection Model simulates every NFL game 10,000 times. It has a 48-37 record on NFL prop picks this season. It returned well over $600 for $100 players. Stefon Diggs is a strong pick for Thursday night football. He's over 82.5 receiving yards. The New Orleans Saints are 4-8 and coming off a 13-0 road loss to the 49ers. The Saints have the league's 15th ranked offense, averaging 347.3 yards per game. Tampa Bay is 5-6 and ranked 9th in total defense, allowing 315.2 yards.
Patrick Mahomes won his first 74 regular-season starts in the NFL. Ken Stabler won 58 games in his 75 starts. The Chiefs and Bengals are division leaders in their conferences. Tennessee Titans and Philadelphia Eagles play interconference games on Sunday. The Alabama Game of the Week is the Titans-Eagles contest. Fourteen players from Alabama high schools and colleges are on the teams' active rosters. Two of them are quarterbacks. They are Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa. Titans visit Philadelphia, while Dolphins visit San Francisco. Bengals and Ravens are AFC North leaders.
Patrick Mahomes is the favorite for the 2022 MVP award. The Chiefs have been playing well recently. Tua Tagovailoa has been making a charge up the favorites list since his return from injury.
Trevor Penning made his NFL debut against the 49ers. He played six snaps and didn't play well. Penner got a poor PFF grade of 28.0. His pass-blocking grade was 8.5 and his run-block grade 60.9. The Saints are 4-8 and they should be thinking about the playoffs. The penalty Pennington received negated a pass interference play.
